Featuring a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 engine that houses 1099 hp, this super car from the Swedish manufacturers takes only 2.9 seconds to go from 0-60. Although its theoretical speeds are seemingly massive, speed tests have set 260 mph (418 km/h) as its maximum speed.
Hennessey Venom GT is the second fastest car in the world. With a 7.0-liter V8 Twin Turbo LS7 Turbocharged engine that delivers a rolicking 1244 hp units of power for the drive, it is little wonder that the car takes only 2.5 seconds to go from 0-60 and boasts a top speed of 270 mph (435 km/h).
With a top speed of 408.84 km/h (254.04 mph) Bugatti Veyron Super Sport occupies third place in this list. The Veyron features an 8.0-litre, quad-turbocharged, W16 cylinder engine, equivalent to two narrow-angle V8 engines bolted together. This supercar produces a maximum output of 1,200 PS (880 kW; 1,200 bhp) 6,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 1,500 N. m (1,100 lb. ft) 3,000–5,000 rpm.
9ff GT9 R grabs fourth spot in this list with a claimed speed of 420 km/h (260 mph). Built by the German tuning company, GT9-R is fitted and modified with a 4.0-Liter Flat 6 Engine (six cylinders arranged horizontally in two banks of three cylinders) which enables the vehicle to produce an impressive horsepower of 1,120 and torque of 910 lb-ft. It does 0–100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9s and 0–300 km/h (190 mph) under 16s.
5 SSC Ultimate Aero
SSC Ultimate Aero is the fastest supercar from SSC North America (formerly known as Shelby SuperCars). The vehicle comes equipped with a 6.3-Liter Twin-Turbocharged V8 Engine that is capable of generating an impressive horsepower of 1,287 and torque of 1,112 lb-ft. It has a top speed of 256 mph, just 1 mph less than the GT9-R. The Ultimate Aero kept the title of the fastest production car until 2010 when a Veyron Super Sport was able to hit a top speed of 267.8 mph (430.98 km/h).
