Actress Manisha Koirala is a Ovarian cancer survior. Manisha’s cancer was diagnosed after she fell unconscious in 2012 and later was admitted in a city hospital. After some tests, she was diagnosed with the disease. She underwent surgery in New York and battled the ailment. She recently made a comeback to the silver screen with the film 'Dear Maya'.
2 Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh who smashed six sixes off Stuart Broad in one over during the World T20 was diagnosed with cancer suffered from a malignant tumor known as seminoma which was found between his lung and heart. He underwent treatment in the US and often posted updates and photos on social networking sites. Yuvraj's return to his old self after having fought the the deadly ailment is a huge inspiration to cancer patients.
3 Lisa Ray
Indo-Canadian Actress Lisa Ray, who appeared in the Bollywood films like Kasoor, Water, Bollywood Hollywood was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells) in 2009. She underwent stem cell transplant and made it through.
4 Gautami Tadimalla
Actress Gautami Tadimalla who recently announced her separation from her partner Kamal Haasan is a Breast Cancer survivor. She faced cancer at 35 and ever since it has been a long road to recovery for her. The actress who overcame the disease made a return to films subsequently.
5 Anurag Basu
Director Anurag Basu was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia – a type of blood cancer – in 2004 and was given a two-month ultimatum. The cancer or the treatment could not keep him away from work. He directed last parts of his movie ‘Tumsa Nahi Dekha’ from his hospital bed. He also scripted two movies, ‘Life in a Metro’ and ‘Gangster’ at the hospital. Basu was victorious in this battle and came back with a roar.
